Leongatha Little Athletics 2010 Cross Country Championships 4.7.10 The weather was kind to us for the running of the Leongatha Little Athletics Cross Country Championships. Weekend rain made for a slippery course, while the cows pads reminded us that we were in the country! Thirty -one Little Athletes and eighteen South Coast athletes participated in various distances. Sincere thanks to Mary MacKillop College who allowed us to utilise their facilities and to South Coast Athletics for organising the event. Thanks also to David Green & John Ryan who set up the course, our officials; Judy Ryan, Helen Maclean, Philomena Smith, Patrick Ryan, Mitchell Green, Angela Byrne, Robyn Byrne, Lee Ann Byrne, Barry Standfield, Kyla Green, and Wendy Caple, Josh Plumb and Terra Plumb for cooking the BBQ. Leongatha Little Athletics 2010 Cross Country Championships 7.6.10 Our 2010 Cross Country Championships will be held at Mary MacKillop Catholic Regional College on Sunday 4th July 2010 at the South Coast Athletics Cross Country Championships. South Coast Athletics are hosting the event. This is a great opportunity to build on our relationship with the senior club (South Coast Athletics) and follows on from last years successful championship event. The event provides a great opportunity for parents who have the chance to run as an invitation in the South Coast cross country events. Click here to view the flyer. Gippsland Region Track & Field Championships 29.01.09 The Gippsland Region Track & Field Championships will be held at the Joe Carmody Track, Newborough on Sunday 21st February 2010. Season resumes January 30th 2010 28.12.09 The Leongatha Little Athletics Club will break for the school holidays and resume competition on Saturday 30th January 2010. The parent duty roster for the remainder of the season was emailed to all members. Any enquiries email: leongathalac@gmail.com .
2010 Vic Country Track & Field Championships 28.12.09 The 2010 Victorian Country Track & Field Championships will be held at the Joe Carmody Track, Newborough, January 22nd -24th. An invitational Under 12's competition is being held for athletes born 1999,2000 & 2001. Events to be contested are: Long Jump, High Jump, 100m, 400m & Shot Put (2kg). All Leongatha athletes are encouraged & welcome to compete. Older athletes are able to compete by joining South Coast Athletics. Please see David or Lyndall Green for further information. Australian All Schools Championships 27.12.09 Leongatha Little Athletics Club members, Eleanor Patterson & Angela Byrne performed well at the recent Australian All Schools Championships, held in Hobart, to claim silver medals in their respective events. On Track Presentation 10.12.09 This was the final week of the On Track program ran by our On Track Coach, Paula O’Loughlin. Paula does a wonderful job teaching new skills to our young athletes & preparing them for their first season of athletics. Each ‘On Track’ athlete was presented with a medal and a certificate for completion of the program. Well done to the following athletes who were presented with awards:- Tara Funnell, Holly Proudlock, Tiffany-Blossom Matheson, Rhien Hall, Grace Patterson, Ariella Francis, Alex Ritchie, Erin Mantel, Harrison Herbert, Lachlan Smith, Jazmine Findlay, Jessica Zubcic, Tyson Bolam, Ethan Woodall, Max Hosie, Ruby Adkins, Alexander Battersby, Emma Trease, Sophie Close, Gemma VanDerRydt, William Lewis, Briella Tudor, Brianna McNaugton & David Phillips. All “On Track” athletes are reminded that they may compete in the New Year in the Under 6 age group. There is no additional charge.
Australian Primary School Championships 02.12.09 Congratulations to LLAC members Shane Byrne, Julian Patterson & Wesley Graeme who represented Victoria in the Australian Primary School Championships, held in Sydney this week. Julian Patterson& Wesley Graeme competed in the 11 years High Jump which was interrupted by rain. They placed 6th & 8th respectively, clearing 1.45m. Shane Byrne finished 3rd in the 11 years 200m heat in a PB time, qualifying 7th fastest for the final. Shane placed 8th in the final. Shane was 5th fastest qualifier in the 100m, placing 9th in the final. On the last day of competition all three boys were involved in medal winning Relay teams: Shane 8 x100m (Bronze) and Wesley & Julian Long Jump Relay (Bronze). Click here to view full results.

SPC Fundraiser 27.11.09 The Club is conducting a SPC fundraiser to raise funds for a much needed Hurdle Trolley. IGA Market Day 26.11.09 IGA Market Day will be held on Thursday 10th December 2009. On entry to the IGA Leongatha store customers will been offered a LLAC "reward tag" to donate their points to our Club for this day only. We require plenty of parent helpers to distribute "tags" throughout the day. Please email Club Secretary Michelle Evans leongathalac@gmail.com if you are able to volunteer. Any time you are able to offer would be greatly appreciated. This is a great opportunity to accumulate some customer reward points, which later in the year are converted to funds for our Club.

IGA's Little Athletics Docket Competition 10.11.09 The IGA Supermarket shopping docket competition is in full swing, with collection boxes located at Michael's SUPA IGA in Leongatha & Korumburra, and also at IGA in Mirboo Nth. It's easy to help, simply place your shopping dockets in the box provided at your local IGA store. The Club with the most docket value at the end of the season will win a share in $15000 worth of equipment. Get your friends & family to collect dockets.
Gippsland Region Relays 11.10.09 The 2009 Gippsland Region Relay Championships will be held at the Joe Carmody Reserve, Newborough on November 15th 2009. This is a fantastic day for the kids (& parents!) and the only opportunity the athletes have to compete as a team. Relay events include: 4 x100m, 4 x200m Medley Relay (100m, 100m, 200m, 400m) in each age group for boys & girls. Other events include mixed age group & mixed boy/girl teams. Centre's who have less than 4 registered athletes in an age group may combine with other Centre's to form a Gippsland Region team. Entries close 31st October 2009, so if you are interested in participating please see Michelle Evans or Helen Patterson at our Saturday meet. No late entries. The Leongatha Little Athletics Club will pay for all entry fees.
Welcome 04.10.09 The 2009/10 season commenced on Saturday 3rd October, with 150 athletes already signed up. Welcome to our new families, we hope your children enjoy their time at Leongatha Little Athletics. To our returning members, we look forward to many new PB's throughout the season.
